Why Krakow?
Medieval seats of kings
Krakow - a city wrapped in legend, where time flows differently, and where every moment becomes a moment of history. For centuries Krakow was the capital of Poland, the seat of kings, drawing great scholars and artists from the whole world. It is their talents and imagination that ensured the city's rich legacy of magnificent art and artchitecture which reflect the most important trends in European culture. Its heritage has been appreciated - in 1978 Krakow became a part of the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites.
Educational centre
Here is the seat of the second oldest university in Europe - the Jagiellonian University, founded in 1364. Krakow is a unique city where cultural and historical heritage is inseparably joined with scientific activities. Around 200,000 young people study here at several universities. Among them are thousands of young people from Western and Northern Europe, the USA and other nations.
Stateliness and bohemia
Studying in Krakow also means a unique atmosphere of bohemia, cobblestone streets, galleries and cafes as Krakow is among those rare cities of Europe where the medieval town is still the vital centre of modern metropolis. In 2000 the Royal City of Krakow was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture recognising its contribution to the world's cultural achievements.
On the one hand Krakow represents a synthesis of all things Polish - connecting tradition with modernity, on the other it benefits from its geographical location and consequently its international influences.
If you have ever been to this magic place, you will always carry a tiny piece of it in yourself, consciously or not.
